A FEW OF US VISITED BRENT AND HIS TRUSTY (AND TALENTED) SIDEKICK ED OUT ON SHELTER ISLAND TO SEE THE PROJECT THEY ARE WORKING ON. WOW! A HUGE PROJECT FOR SURE. BRENT SHARED LOTS OF THE HISTORY OF THE THE BOAT AND DETAILS ABOUT THE RESTORATION. MY FAVOURITE STORY WAS ABOUT THE BRONZE SCREWS OF WHICH THERE ARE 5000 OF THEM. THINK ABOUT THAT WORK…TAKE OUT THE WOOD PLUG…TAKE OUT THE SCREW (SOME HAD TO BE DRILLED OUT)….PUT IN NEW SCREW AND PUT BACK THE WOOD PLUG. HE IS DEFINITELY COMMITTED TO SAVING AND RESTORING THIS BEAUTIFUL BOAT. CAN’T WAIT FOR A SAIL. HERE ARE A FEW PHOTOS FROM THAT VISIT…Valerie
Big thanks to everyone who made the long treck out to Shelter Island last weekend to see what we’ve been up to. It is always gratifying and encouraging when other people take an interest in our little project. And thanks for all the interesting discussion and ideas and suggestions. As you could probably see, we sometimes proceed somewhat slower than we might, simply because we are figuring a lot of it out as we go along. I certainly couldn’t do it without Ed’s very practical, capable, and skillful work.
You are all welcome to come by again any time,
Brent
